Gabriella Maatouk

Gabriella Maatouk is an associate at Cooper, Sandler, Shime & Schwartzentruber LLP, where she practices exclusively in the area of criminal law. She represents clients facing a wide range of charges including assault, domestic assault, criminal harassment, and sexual assault. Ms Maatouk also has experience conducting special bail hearings and brings a strong client-centered approach to her advocacy, with a particular interest in defending the rights of vulnerable and marginalized individuals in the criminal justice system.

Ms Maatouk was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2025 after completing her articles with the firm. She earned her Juris Doctor from the Lincoln Alexander School of Law in 2023, where she distinguished herself through leadership and community engagement. During law school, she co-founded and served as the President of the First-Generation Network at Lincoln Alexander, an organization dedicated to supporting law students who are the first in their families to pursue post-secondary or legal education. She was also an executive member of the Criminal Law Students’ Society.

Before pursuing her legal education, Ms Maatouk completed both undergraduate and graduate studies at Carleton University in Ottawa. She earned a Master of Arts in Legal Studies in 2020, following the completion of a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree with a major in Law and a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies. Her academic work focused on critical legal theory, social justice, and the intersections of law, gender, and inequality, all of which continue to inform her legal practice today.

Ms Maatouk is committed to providing high-quality, compassionate, and strategic representation to each of her clients. She is fluent in English, conversational in Arabic, and has basic proficiency in French.
