On August 9, 2013, Megan Schwartzentruber was the presenter for the Legal Aid Lunch and Learn for duty counsel on the topic of Beyond Criminal Records: the real effects of peace bonds, discharges and diversions on employment.

In July 2013, Mark Sandler served as a faculty member at the National Criminal Law Programme for the Federation of Law Societies of Canada in Ottawa, Ontario.

Jonathan Shime’s paper, “The Prosecution of HIV Non-Disclosure”, was published in Vol. 34, No. 2 of “For the Defence”, the Criminal Lawyers’ Association Newsletter.

On June 13, 2013, Jonathan Shime and Megan Schwartzentruber represented the Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network, the British Columbia Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS and HIV & AIDS Legal Clinic Ontario at the Supreme Court of Canada as intervenors in the case of R. v. Bedford. The Supreme Court’s decision is pending.

On April 20, 2013, Jonathan Shime spoke at the 6-Minute Criminal Lawyer Series on the topic of Non-Disclosure of HIV.

Jonathan Shime acted as a guest instructor for the sex assault investigators’ course at the Police College of Ontario on January 14, 2013, February 14, 2013 and April 18, 2013.

In October 2012, Mark Sandler served as Co-Chair for the Second Biennial Symposium on Expert Forensic Evidence in Criminal Proceedings – Osgoode Hall Law School and the Centre for Forensic Science and Medicine, University of Toronto Programme.
